What is the Customer Choice Program?

Am I eligible to switch to Utility Gas & Power?

In Ohio, customers have the option to buy gas and power from an alternate energy supplier (such as UGP), rather than the utility. This program offers customers more competitive rate choices and added control over their natural gas rate and power rate.

What rate plans are available?

If you currently receive your gas and/or electric from one of our utility service areas (Columbia Gas of Ohio, Dominion East, Duke, AEP, AES, and First Energy) and your account is active and in good standing, you are eligible to switch to Utility Gas & Power as your supplier.  Your utility company may charge a $10 fee for more than one switch within a 12-month period.

What will my current utility company do when I switch?

Can I remain on my budget billing plan?

-Continue to deliver your natural gas or electric as always.
-Handle any service and emergency calls and issues.
-Send your monthly bills as always, but with your new UGP rate.
 

Yes, your billing process will remain the same. You will still receive one monthly bill, but your new UGP rate will be listed as a line item instead of the utility rate.

Do I have to call my current utility when I enroll with Utility Gas and Power?

No. Utility Gas & Power will contact your utility for you to let them know that you are making the switch to us as your supplier. There is no hassle or service interruption.
